CLIENT RELATED POLICIES

ACCEPTANCE OF CLIENTS

• All clients must reside in Heart of the valley’s service area and be 59 years of age or older.
• HOV shall accept clients for whom it is determined there is a reasonable expectation that HOV can meet the needs of the client.
• Clients who are deemed inappropriate for HOV services are to be referred to other resources, if possible.

CLIENT DISCHARGE

Services should be terminated when any of the following occur:

• The client's condition deteriorates and the client needs closer supervision.
• The client is unable or unwilling to co-operate in attaining the goals outlined for the client.
• The client’s behavior is abusive to HOV’s staff or volunteers.
• The client violates HOV’s policies.

EMERGENCY PROCEDURES

• For protocol and specific instruction involving clients and volunteers dealing with accidents and injuries, unusual incidents and automobile accidents, see Appendix
