GETTING STARTED WITH HOV

Many of you have asked how you can get help from Heart of the Valley. We try to keep our procedures simple. Dial (408) 241-1571. If you get an answering machine, leave your name and number and we will call you back as soon as we return to the office. If a person answers, let them know your zip code and that you are 59 years of age or older. We do not have a registration fee, application process or a waiting list.

Heart of the Valley can help you with transportation needs, shopping or errands, some house projects, light gardening, paperwork, handyman services, respite and companionship (both in person and over the telephone). If you have other needs in mind, run them past us, we may be able to help or refer you to someone who can.

Heart of the Valley requires a seven day advanced notice. We cannot provide personal care. We do not perform on-going services. Every time you need us, you have to call and set up another appointment. A suggested donation for escorted transportation is $2.50 plus 25 cents per mile. You will automatically receive a donation envelope in the mail after a volunteer has been assigned to help you. You can send them back to our office with your contribution after the services are provided. Please do not give your donation to our volunteers to deliver.

If you think there might be something we can help you with, give us a call at (408) 241-1571, or use this form.
