Board Member Responsibilities

As Heart of the Valley’s governing body, our Board of Directors is responsible for the oversight and strategic vision we need to fulfill our mission of providing services to help seniors remain living independently in their homes. If you enjoy problem solving and providing strategic leadership, and you have a heart for seniors, consider becoming a member of the Heart of the Valley Board of Directors.

 

Your Responsibilities Would Include:

  • Attending Board meetings.

  • Serving on one or more Board subcommittees.

  • Working with other Board members and/or the Executive Director to help with and advise on various matters including

  • financial oversight

  • policy development

  • community outreach

  • fundraising goals and initiatives.

  • Being actively involved in fundraising and public outreach activities, including participating in fundraising, community outreach and/or networking events.

 

Any of the following skills or experience would be a plus:

  • Current or previous membership on a nonprofit board

  • Current or previous employment in a nonprofit

  • Volunteer experience in a nonprofit

  • Community outreach, marketing/media

  • Fundraising

  • Technology

  • Grant writing

  • Social Media
