Dear Friends of Heart of the Valley,

It is with a great sadness and a heavy heart that we are letting you know that our beloved Glenda Cresap has passed away. While spending a lovely day with her husband and daughter, she suffered a cardiac arrest and never regained consciousness. Her husband and daughter were with her during a week of exhaustive efforts and she was taken off of life support, as they caressed and spoke with her lovingly. She passed on July 1st, 2022 with her family and close friends by her side. Gone too soon and dearly missed. The family has held a private service.

Glenda was the Executive Director and heart and soul of Heart of the Valley, SERVICES FOR SENIORS, Inc., (HOV) for 31 years, at the time of her retirement. She was incredibly kind and generous to all who knew her and all who encountered her. She got to know the majority of clients, some of whom she personally served. She cherished the volunteers, some of whom she trained personally, and who continue to be trained by her wonderful staff, in her service model. She connected with Executive Directors at other nonprofits, some of whom she mentored. And, she got to know many at various levels of leadership in our local government that she partnered with, and shared the importance of seniors continuing to be able to live independently in their homes because of the no-cost services, that Herat of the Valley, provides.

Glenda was unbelievably generous with her time and loving spirit. She ensured that all clients were serviced, even those that were “being naughty” as Glenda would say. She would visit and make sure a client or volunteer in the hospital was getting their needs met. She frequently delivered the eulogy for those who passed on. She always found a way to talk to others in a kind, compassionate way. This is who and how she was in her everyday life as well as at Heart of the Valley. She was a loving, caring person and she was loved by all who knew her. One volunteer said, “She was just so much fun to be around, no matter what was going on at HOV. Such energy and kindness radiating from her.”
Glenda left the world a better place and touched so many lives. We will all miss her and her wonderful spirit of goodness, kindness and compassion.
